Please note that the colour names refer to internal John Skinner Ltd names, not necessarily the names Austin Healey originally used for these colours.

Due to industry-wide inconsistencies in production and record-keeping, it is widely accepted that the interpretation of original shades varies depending on who you ask. As a result, John Skinner Ltd offers multiple “original” shade options for you to make your final choice from. Below is a list of these accepted “original” colour choices that John Skinners can offer for your Healey restoration project.

What materials are available?

We can supply the trimmed Dash Top Panel in either Vinyl (Ambla), Leathercloth (Vynide) or Leather.

What material is original for this model of car?

Many cars of this era left the factory with Leathercloth (Vynide) covered panels. This material is often referred to as “Rexine” in the original parts books and restoration guides. We can offer these parts in the original Leathercloth material; please be aware that there is a limited colour range available in this material. Unless specifically instructed we would standardly manufacture this part in Vinyl rather than Leathercloth.

Do you offer different qualities of materials?

No, here at JSM we always maintain using the best quality raw materials available to us in the colour range we offer. This applies to our Vinyls (Ambla), Leathercloths (Vynide), and Leathers. Please note that we do offer two different styles of “finish” when it comes to the Leather. The quality is the same, but the finish is slightly different. Please refer to our Materials & Colours library for more information.

Originally, what colour was this Dash Top cover supplied in?

The 100-6 and 3000 models used self-coloured Dash Top areas i.e. it matched the main interior trim colour. This is unlike the later BJ8 model, which switched to Black in this area as standard. It is worth noting that Black is commonly used in this area on many cars, as this helps reduce the “glare” from the reflecting sunlight on the windscreen glass.

What are the actual Panels made from?

The actual panel is manufactured in plywood. It includes the “D” shaped crashroll rubber pre-attached on the rear edge, prior to the upholstery trimming process.

Is the piping for the left and right edges included in this kit?

Yes. We trim the piping to the outer edges of the panels, as original.

Do these Panels fit correctly?

Yes. We have been supplying the same panels for decades with no report issues. Be warned they are a tight fit to get into position in the car.

Due to the range of products we offer, and our worldwide customer base, we can only calculate an accurate shipping cost once Your Quote has been received by our Sales Team. As there is no payment required at this stage – use our online shop in full confidence, with zero commitment to purchase – and send us your Quotation request for your interior trim requirements; and we will get in touch directly with you with an updated Quote, which will include the shipment costs.

In the meantime, basic guideline shipping costs are outlined below.

(For all non-UK shipments – the final price per box depends on the size of the box – which is dictated by the items in your final selection)

UK: £10.50 – £20 per box

Europe & European Union: £20 – £120 per box

North America & Canada: £28.50 – £125 per box

Rest of World: £42.50 – £200 per box

Generally speaking, a complete car interior kit (Trim Panels, Carpets, Seat Covers, Boot/Trunk area, Soft Top Hoods etc) normally requires 2 x FULL Size Boxes, with some cars needing slightly less, and some slightly more.

Please note that these prices are exclusive of VAT (UK Customers ONLY) and any additional customs or handling charges that may be incurred during shipping. These prices are given as an approximation only.

For further information about shipping, and to learn more about how our shipping costs are calculated, please read our Shipping and Delivery guide.

Brexit

You can read a full guide to Brexit and JSM here.

To briefly summarise the details…

As of January 2021, the UK is no longer part of the European Union (EU). As a result, several changes have been implemented which affects how EU based customers now purchase things from the UK. Here is a brief overview…

The UK Value Added Tax (VAT @ 20%) is no longer applicable to any customers purchasing from outside the UK, assuming these goods leave the UK. To clarify, no VAT (20%) will be charged on initial purchase for any goods leaving the UK.

Instead your local country tax is charged upon importation into that country. This is based on the value of the goods as stated on the customs Invoice we supply. For most European countries – the result of this change is minimal as most local taxes range between 17% and 22% for the large majority of EU based countries. Note that some countries have lower tax rates, and others have higher, this is purely a guideline.

You will be contacted by a customs official upon arrival of the parcels to the destination country – and they will request payment of these taxes.

All shipping agents levy a small administration charge for “clearing customs” normally of a value around €5 – €10.

Our products are 100% UK Manufactured, therefore our products are Tariff/Duty free – meaning that you should not incur additional tariff charges upon importation. It should be noted that we use the HS Commodity Code (Tariff Code) 8708.99.9790 “Parts and accessories of the motor vehicles of headings 8701 to 8708 > Other Parts…” – for the majority of the kits that we supply.

For any Trade or Wholesale Customers – if you provide us with your EORI number – then this is noted at the point of import, allowing you to claim back the Tax from your local government when you issue you tax returns.
